What the Hell is going on?

Some enthusiasts keep asking us when the HB Experiences are due and when we start building a few more HB Specials. Where is the original idea and what the hell is going on? Well let us explain.

Our initial idea was to build 12 HB Specials and use them for exclusive self-drive tours around some of the most beautifull parts in Europe. Call them fly-and-drive tours, dressed to the part etc etc. To make this all happen we had to invest a large amount of money... and then came the

Credit Crunch

Yep everybody is in the credit crunch... or so it seems. For us this had large consequences. It is not too smart to start borrowing a large amount of money when the timing is completely wrong!! Although it was the right thing to do..to put the project on hold - there were some investors who really wanted to go on with the project and asked us if there was any way to get a HB Special in the garage. We hesitated about the idea of stepping off our intial idea but eventually decided to make them on order. The first order came in from Switzerland, we were over the moon untill we found out that the Swiss would not accept our Carbon bodied HB Special, saying it is too dangerous for motorcycles and pedestrians... The carbon would splinter and cause harm (or at least that's what we got as an excuse).

Classic Rally Events

In the mean time our Classic Rally business came to a halt... also due to the credit crunch. Understandably you cannot fire 1500 people and then go rallying with your best clients and say "all is good" when the papers say otherwise. It is sociably just not the thing to do. For us that's basically bad news and after 10 years of supplying over 250 companies events for their clients its time to say goodbye.

Change

So it is time to take serious measures and change. Please don't feel sorry for us... we don't. We had an excellent time and a lot of fun during those past 10 years but it's time to move on and pursue the dream we have started.

Open Book
  1. We have put our initial plan of the HB Experience on hold. This means we are ready to go but don't think the time is right. So we are sorry but you have to wait.
  2. We have put our private collection of Classic Cars for sale - something that might be of interest to certain individuals. Go view them in our webshop.
  3. Huet Brothers products will remain active and new products will be added to the range.
  4. HB Specials will be made to order. Book your test ride and understand excatly what it is about. Its extremely cool!

We hope that clears things up a bit. We will still pursue our dreams and keep providing you with great products!

good luck in these intersting times. we are a NCAA Design company as well (no computer at all design) but saves now due to the crises that much money that we can wait longer to bring our new design boat on the european market. tip: make the car for Swiss the outer layer of polyester. that sells. when the car is licenced in swiss you rub the outer skin off ......we wish you to sell many HB-specials in the furture. regards to ton carbon ...

You have a great concept and the global financial issues will settle eventually and a good idea will still be a good idea . Recession forces you to reevaluate and think 'lean' which stops bad habits developing in the long term. Wishing you all the best and I will help in any way I can going forward. Best of luck from England!

  • Thanks already | By: Jan van den Engel on 27-01-2010 08:28:15:
Best words to describe what you achieved already: impressive and daring! That goes for the car which I first saw at a TR convention in 2009, and for your HB Experience plans. Please stay alive, wait for better times and do a re-start. Best of luck in the meanwhile.
